Activities outside the office
Boat trip to Åland
The whole group took a ferry to Åland where we talked about teamwork.
It's summer time!
Summer arrived and finally the first sunny and warm day. And what’s better that a nice dinner together to celebrate it? We had some drinks outside, prepared dumplings (or at least tried) and enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Du with some of the dumplings we made ourselves. It was an amazing afternoon/ evening! I can’t wait for the next one :)
Christmas time
On Friday some of us went to Du’s place to have our traditional Christmas dinner. This time it was Du the only one cooking and we must admit it was delicious, congratulations chef!
Afterwork
After a hard working week we decided to start the weekend in the best way we could think about, with some bowling and a nice dinner on Friday evening. Already looking forward to the next afterwork!
Promoting teamwork
November arrived and with it the snow. This November is the snowiest one in Stockholm in the last 111 years and we could see it last Wednesday. It was really hard to clear the snow from the cars to go back home alone so, what a better option than do it all together and promote teamwork? In this way some managed to get home and some others to have a fun break from experiments and work.
Conference trip to Seattle (USA)
This year our group went to Seattle to attend the 10th International Conference on Molten Slags, Fluxes and Salts (MOLTEN16) held in Seattle (USA) from the 22nd to the 25th of May.
But of course, we also took the opportunity and went for some sightseeing and to try Seattle's famous seafood

Conference in Korea
This year Dr. Jaewoo Lee and Prof. Du Sichen attended the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Electromaterials held in Jeju (Korea). They met some previous Korean students from our group, Dr. Dong Minho and Prof. Kang Youngjo.
Doctoral conferment ceremony
KTH have a conferement ceremony for the doctoral students that have defended their thesis where they will receive a doctor diploma. The diploma is a sign of the doctors worthiness. At this ceremony KTH also gives out honorary doctors and install new professors. This cermemony is held at one occasion each year. This year we had two of our former students attending the ceremony and receive their doctoral diplomas, Jennie Brandberh Hurtig and Tengfei Deng.

Friday Coffe break!
Every Friday we normally have coffe break together with the whole group. We meet, drink coffe, have some cake and discuss freely about the events of the past week. This week we managed with a new record of people since we had some extra visitors from Elkem in Norway.
7 Easy steps to enjoy your own Feuerzangenbowle
We in the Micro Modelling group like to share our recipe for the traditionally german christmas drink Feuerzangenbowle!
Step 1
The easiest way is to bring your happy german colleague and let him make the preperations. Sit back, relax and enjoy!
If youre unlucky and don't have a german colleague don't worry, here is what you going to do:
Mix 2 l red wine, 100 ml oragne juice, 6 cloves, a piece of whole cinnamon in a kettle.
Slice an orange and one lemon and add tp the kettle.
Heat up the mixture and hold it for a while to let the spices diffuse in to the liquid phase. However do not let the mixture boil. (unless you want a non-alcohol treat)
Step 2
Place the big lump of sugar (which you of course have prepared in advance) on the metal plate over the kettle and soak it with rum. Important point here is that the rum must have a alcohol content above 45% (spoiler alert) since it has to burn in step 3.
Step 3
Set fire to the rum soaked sugar!
Step 4
Enjoy the show! Do not forget to continously supply the sugar lump with rum. In the below picture you can see the streams of caramellised sugar that drips down in to the wine.
Step 5
Stir the liquid for a while and serve.
Step 6
Gather your friends and colleagues and enjoy your finished Feuerzangenbowle!
Step 7
Celebrate your success in Feuerzangenbowle-making by going to a typical swedish julbord!
