Björn Glaser
Assistant Professor
I studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Applied Science Hof/Germany and Mechanical Engineering at IT Carlow/Ireland and graduated in 2008. In 2009 I came to Sweden to do my Ph.D. in Materials Science at KTH in Stockholm. In October 2012 I defended my doctoral thesis “A Study on the Thermal State of Steelmaking Ladles” and received my degree as “Teknologie Doktor / Ph.D.”. Since December 2012 I am employed at KTH as a Senior Researcher. My passion for high temperature experiments up to 2200°C is reflected in my field of research, which focuses mainly on the investigation of thermal physical properties of molten metals, slags and fluxes.
My main research and engineering interests are:
- Thermophysical properties of molten metals, slags and fluxes
- Transport phenomena and physical modeling
- Physical chemistry of melts
- Experimental kinetics
- Design and development of high temperature equipment
- Industrial trial measurements
