Development and Application of an Operator Vision Assistance System for Enhanced Direct Process Control in Foundries

OViAs

The project aims to produce equipment for quality control, where it produces instantaneous and objective data for liquid slag in liquid metal. The purpose of this equipment is to be able to take measures during casting to avoid getting slag into the mold, which can lead to defects and scraps that cost both time, money and energy. Expected result from the project is a portable device that can measure the proportion of liquid slag in real time in relation to the proportion of melt, and present this to the operator in such a way that he can make a decision on how the melt should be handled. The result of this is expected to minimize scrapping and welding repairs of castings due to slag inclusions.
